Iran in the North-South International Transport Corridor  (INSTC)

This corridor is a 7,200 km long multimodal transportation project and its purpose is to promote transportation cooperation between the countries of Iran, Russia, and India This corridor connects the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea through Iran, and then connects to Northern Europe through Central Asia and Russia. This corridor also potentially includes Baltic, Nordic and Arctic. The transit point of this route is twice the speed and 30% less cost than the Suez Canal. The Chabahar port is the most important point in this direction which India plans to confront Pakistan’s Gwadar port by investing in Chabahar to establish its communication route to Europe without the need to pass through Pakistan.
